I Don't Think The Spiders Like Me...

Ok, so remember how I said I was befriending the spiders at my house.

Well, apparently they don't want to be my friend.

These are 9 of the 12 bites I received near my knee from the wolf/or funnel/or whatever mean/angry/aggressive/spiders that live in our grass and compost. (I know they are wolf spiders - I need to get a good picture to show you - but whenever I get close enough to one to get a good shot I don't normally think of grabbing the camera first - I am reaching more for the baseball bat) Got these lovelies while ripping up grass for our new flower bed...must have ticked one off pretty good. Funny, but I couldn't even feel it when it happened - nor did I see the culprit -all I know is that is wasn't an ant or a mosquito - I've had those bites...this one was different. For one I felt a burning pain down my leg for 10 minutes afterwards, then itching and swelling...and this is how it looks 3 days later...still red and angry...even after 2 double doses of Benedryll. Picture just doesn't do justice.

Baby girl...they look soooo bad in that picture. It's late and your in bed...I hope your feeling better. How come you didn't write anything in your blog about how your husband says that you should where pants when working in the yard, but you don't like to, so you wear shorts?

Just kidding, love. I promise I'll take care of those for you.

I woke up yesterday with three spider bites. Ouch! That means one has made his way into my bed!

By the way...What a sweet comment from your hubby! Hold on to him!

Yikes! WE have wolf spiders here. A few days ago I saw a massive spider on the front porch. When my husband stepped on it hundreds of baby spiders scattered everywhere. I did a bit of research and the wolf spider carries her babies on her back and it makes her look humongous! I don't like spiders! Listen to your hubby and wear those pants girl!

Tina - yup, they are def not nice!

Matt - I love you and YES I should have listened to you!

Life, love and lola - Ew! Spiders in your bed?! I would freak! We would have to get a new mattress and possibly change rooms! And oh yes, I definitely plan on holding on to my guy!

Nadine - We plan on carrying out an extermination plan of sorts so hopefully we encounter them far less!

Robin - Yeah, I've heard that wolf spiders do that - yuck! And I will most assuredly wear proper clothes next time I work out in the yard!

ICK Stacy,
I cannot do any yard work at all unless wearing jeans. Even if it's hotter, I save myself alot of aggravation and bites and rashes from grass, etc by wearing jeans. I know what spider you are talking about. Got tons of them around our front porch/door. I keep squirting them away but they love it there. Haven't been bit by one though. Not sure what you should put on them, except jeans :) socks up to the knee too!

Momma Val - I know I know - but it sucks to where jeans when its hot outside! Thank goodness it is finally cooling off so I can at least think about putting more clothes on when I go outside:)

My first year out in the garden, I got bit so many times I was waving the white flag everytime I went outside. Now I am a little more cautious where I plop myself down and it's gotten better. Same thing though - wolf spiders...
