Bleeding Hearts

My bleeding hearts are blooming! I wasn't sure I would see blooms this since since I just put them in the ground this spring!

Bleeding hearts were a childhood favorite and my adult backyard just wasn't complete without them. Thankfully my mother-in-law is an absolute sweetheart and bought me two for my birthday this year!! Thank you, Sue - you're the best!!

I planted them inbetween two hostas and they bring just the right touch of color and foliage - so lovely!

I absolutely adore them as well. When I was small, there were two very old women that lived a few doors down from us. Their names were Nono and Dita. One day Nono took a bleeding heart and took the entire flower apart piece by piece and told me a story. There was a bunny and some shoes and several other little pieces. I wish I could remember that story or how to take apart the flower. Have you ever heard of this? Is is the neatest thing, especially for little kids :)

I think I need some of those (I say that about everything that flowers, don't I?).

Hey Stacy,
I found two variations on that story though it's a little scarier than I remember. Still cool though. The blog link is actually way more informative as to how to disassemble the flower. Enjoy!
