A Globe to Gaze Upon
Please pardon the blurry pic! But look what we found garage saling yesterday! The perfect addition to our work-in-progress room for future (way in the distance) wee-ones! A Replogle Treasury Globe for $2! After venturing through the "How old is your globe?" section of the Replogle website I was able to determine that it is a 1997 - not too bad. A few little discrepancies, like the Democratic Republic of the Congo still being named Zaire and one or two other changes even I wasn't fully aware of on our globe.
Looks magnificent next to our little bookshelf - also a recent garage sale find - though I think I want to paint it white eventually - for now it gets Matt and I's childhood books out of the storage tubs and into plain sight. My modern vintage room is becoming a reality!

Oh WOW! Love the globe! I am horrible at garage sales.... I hear about all these treasures, but never seem to stumble on them myself!
thanks for the offer to pull some blogger strings, but I think I may hold out for Christmas.......
Thanks for coming and visiting my. BTW....that canal is MUCH grosser than it looks. I still cringe at the slime in between my toes! GAG!
Awww! That is so cute that you guys are starting to gather things for a little one. Little Buddy has several hand-me-downs (books, clothes, toys) some from us and many from elsewhere. I have the garage saling bug lately but it is really hard to garage sale with a 2 year old.
What a cool find!
Awesome find! We had our first ever yard sale yesterday- would have much rather been out finding cool globes than hosting. :)
I use the phrase "future, theoretical kids" to describe the wee ones that will come- but not in the immediate future. As for us, we have a swingset out back, toys in our "game room" and, as of this week, a station wagon with built-in booster seats- all without kids in the house. I'm glad I'm not the only one who plans way ahead for future family members :) Cute globe!
Sherry - It is a pretty sad ratio on garage sales to actual good finds. I think we went to 10+ that day and only found one thing we had to have - the globe!
You've got a lot of faith in Santa. ;) LOL - though my Santa (husband) would definitely do the same if my camera drowned!
I can just envision the whole canal scene in my head - oh goodness!
Momma Val - I've got a whole little list of things I'd like to equip the room with - one was the globe, definitely lots of books, and would like a trunk with lots of dress-up clothes (for both a boy or girl) and then there are these things I find along the way - like the doll house! :)
Nadine - Thanks!
Alisha - Yeah, I am hearing you about being the garage sale host- never fun. :( I always start getting antsy thinking about all the stuff I could be doing instead. And then people always to sell you so low.
Joanna- Nope, you are not alone! :) I like your term. It is a good explanation that makes sense without getting anyone excited. :)
I hope you'll post pictures of the finished room.
I used to have a wonderful globe that I got as a Christmas gift from my grandparents in 2001, but an idiotic roommate accidentally knocked it off of a dresser and it broke.
The room is no where near finished now - it is still full of our guest bedroom stuff.
