Reader Opinion Needed! Accent Wall?

Thinking about painting an accent wall in our living room Bittersweet Chocolate. Here's poorly photoshopped image with the color artificially slapped in. Whadaya think?? Kinda worried that the color will actually turn out a lot darker than this pic, but we will see.

P.S. That stupid palm tree in the corner died - loved it while we had it but it died in like 2 months.

Also, do you think I can cover this whole wall with one quart? Prob not huh? Maybe just 2 quarts?? Let me know your thoughts...I have no painting experience when it comes to how much I actually need.

Love the color! Our half bath is about that same shade.
If you measure the wall, the paint people will tell you how much you need to cover it with a couple coats. I think you'll need a gallon sice you're painting over white.

I like the color as well, and even if it ends up a little darker, I think it will be fine.

I vote for a gallon. You will probably need 2 coats at least since it is so dark, and it never hurts to have touch-up paint left over. (You may also find you want to paint a shelf or a little table or something else in the room that same color to bring it all together).

Looks nice, but a bit dark. Still, the light from the front window and the sliding glass door in the back is good.

You'll need a gallon. You'll probably use about 3/4 of it, especially if you don't get a tinted primer. It'll take 2 coats.

p.s. How do you watch tv with the couches that way?

I agree! Paint, paint, paint. And I'd go for a gallon too.
We're thinking about colors for an accent wall in our living room, and we're torn between brick red and orange. Love colors! And any paint color called chocolate wins points for me.
PS: I've had bad luck with palms, too. They always die on me. I bought a cheapo silk tree at Walmart and put it in a cool urn. Looks pretty cool, and the silk ones don't die.

Sounds like I need a gallon, huh? Sigh... what am I going to do with one stupid free quart?? Should have done what everyone else did and had one shipped to home and work and my hubby's work and my friend's house. LOL.

TMC - We don't watch much tv the way it is, but when we do we each take up one couch and lie down so we face the TV. LOL. Yeah our living room is set up weird...hard to do it any other way without leaving a couch in the middle of the room.

Kir - We've had pretty good luck with a rubber plant...not made of rubber but that is the name of it..got it from Lowes and it doesn't seem to mind being inside and still looks a little tropical.

Don't know how much paint it will take but it looks gorgeous

I think it will look great like that! It gives the room more depth and richness. and you will probably need another quart to be safe. :) Happy Painting!

I was thinking initially that maybe something more contrasty to the couch colors? Seems to work well when they do that on the design shows. How about bittersweet or terra cotta?
