I can't bring myself to take any pictures of our garden in it's current state. Sigh. We planted so early so of course we had the height of our growing season early and now, yup, it is all ending early. So the garden looks pretty wilty, crinkly, brown and dying.
We still are harvesting quite a bit of goodness, but it just looks less than pretty.
- Still getting a few yellow summer squash - but they are significantly smaller than what we were getting a few weeks ago.
- A few good onions!
- Lots and lots of cherry tomatoes!
- And the most marvelous cantaloupe I've ever tasted! Ate it with a spoon the insides were so ripe and soft - ah...marvelous!

I got my garden started LATE, so I just ate my first red tomato yesterday! The veggies you're still getting look great- and I'd have the harvest early rather than late any day! (remind me of that next season)
My garden is leaving to,I am still getting some maters and some cukes, not much else, but it was sooooo good while it lasted, the melon does look yummy..take care...
It all looks so yummy! And that basket sure does look familiar. So glad it's been so useful for so many things. :)
YUM! Looks fabulous (minus the cantaloupe). I LOVE garden fresh veggies!!!
Momma Val - You don't like cantaloupe????
Nope, never have either. I tried to like it several times but just don't. Not a fan of bananas either. Watermelon is OK but prefer fruit that's more tart like strawberries, braeburn apples, peaches, etc. It all works out thought cause Little Buddy is allergic to melons and pineapple. Wish we could have more pineapple around here though. Do you have a fruit or veggie that you hate?
Wow -- it looks like you've had a very successful year indeed. You're lucky you planted early -- people up here are complaining about the cool summer and not getting much yield from their gardens!
Momma Val - Haha, you're talking to the queen of picky eating! :) But fruit wise I'll eat just about anything - don't prefer bananas though - will eat them, but don't prefer them. I won't eat olives, does that count as veggie? :)
Sure, my husband won't eat olives either. I love black olives (can eat a whole can) but not fond of the other ones. I like to think I like most foods but I have my pickiness too. I hate Miracle Whip and anything made with it, citrus flavored desserts, tropical fruit flavored things, Eww, or when fruit flavoring are added to things that would otherwise taste good to me. My MIL is famous for doing that. Like throwing apricot vinagrette in with fresh steamed asparagus. Blagh!!! I like things to be zesty or plain when it comes to savory foods. Or desserts filled with any jellies or creams, blagh! OK, enough said. Guess I AM picky!
I'm one of those feeling sorry for myself and my unproductive garden. I got my first ripe tomatos two days ago -- a whole month behind normal. Finally some zukes and cukes now, too, so I'm happier now, but July was pretty sad garden-wise.
Your canteloupe is gorgeous! I'd looked it up and thought my growing season would be too short here, but I'm tempted to try the Minnesota midget variety, as they were developed for Minnesota's shorter season, and I tried some a colleaugue was growing when I worked out there and they are awesome. What variety are you growing?
