Mid-April Garden Update

Gotta keep my thoughts on the warmer weather ahead despite all this chilly rain!

Check out my radish seedlings!! My peas are also up as well - though no sign of carrots or lettuce. Hmmm?

Hopefully some decent weather gets here soon I have lots of gardening work to do!
  • Plant one more 4x4 garden box
  • Plant a 4x2 garden box
  • Dahlias planted
  • Bleeding Hearts planted
  • Day Lily Tree bulb planted
  • Gladiolas planted
  • Other bulbs I picked up and need planted in April/May
Seems daunting huh??

Awww! They are too cute. I am impressed that you started so early. Do you have a cover to use if there is a freeze warning? My mother always said to wait until Mother's Day to plant. Just curious. Oh, my mom grew several different types of lettuce under large clear rubbermaid boxes covering her plants in her garden. She just ate some that was out there all winter and said it was delicious. I was so shocked!

I have an arborvitae and a mum in my garage from last year that are waiting to be planted til it's warmer for sure. Wondering if I should just go ahead and try planting now? What do you think. I believe that we are in the same "zone?"

Momma Val - The back of the seed packet for the radishes, etc said you could plant in our zone in March/April. Radishes, carrots, lettuce are pretty hardy crops I thinks and can handle the colder temps of early spring. I did cover them once - but haven't since then - they don't seem to mind at all.

For the mums I would Google it and see when they suggest they go out in the ground.

I have a ton of other seeds I have been holding off on planting because the seed packets say April/May.
