Apparently I can't keep myself away - I am addicted to the internet. Dad had to go fix a tire on the vehicle we are driving tomorrow and I should be napping after my trip - BUT I am checking my Google Reader and blogging - as usual. LOL.
Anyways...on of my favorite blogs - is LOLcats.
I can always count on them to give a good smile everyday. Here are a few of my favorites.

Mini-Morel Vacay
Yup, I am taking a little vacation this weekend. Been a tad overwhelmed with life's goings ons - so when my father proposed the idea - at first I was hesitant about leaving my recently injured husband - but then I started thinking about my hubby's weekend shift - and my obvious lack of any real plans - so...a weekend away sounds pretty good. AND I will hopefully come home with a lot of morels to freeze away - yum!
So, you all won't hear from me this weekend - I need a break - but I'll be back!
Hopefully I will be a little refreshed - because lately I have looked like this each night after work. :)
P.S. Visit the hubby's blog while I am gone - he is bored and is going post crazy - fun stuff! :)
Greenwood-Indianapolis IndyGo express route planned
Click on the link below to view the video I'm in! Wohoo - though I do think it makes my butt look big the way I am lumbering up the steps to get onto the bus - oh well - at least they cut out the part where I fumbled for 3 minutes for spare change! :)

If the link above doesn't work - just try going to the article with the link below and clicking on the video link in the upper left hand corner of the article. -not sure why the link isn't working but it won't :(
here is the link to the article...
AND the exciting part is the actual story - they ARE planning an Express route for Greenwood - yay!
Look! It's me at the very end getting on the bus - lol! :) My 10 seconds of fame...or two - whatever. :)
ACTUALLY, my real ten seconds of fame was not that long ago - when they shot a commercial for IUPUI that I was in - they actually interviewed me and did makeup and everything! I think it still plays on TV every now and then. :) Hmm...I will have to find a copy of that.

I Might Be On TV!
Wow, so this morning was rather exciting.
I haven't been able to ride the bus all week - Tuesday I slept in - and yesterday I had an event after work to go to - so today I was excited to get back into my routine.
Well, at first I thought I missed the early bus - but as I drove up the stop there it was...along with a TV CAMERA CREW from Channel 8!! Gack!
So, here I am running up to the bus - the last person - AND I DON'T HAVE MY MONEY READY. ARG!
And they wouldn't stop filming - so the camera kept rolling as I dug and scrounged in my purse for the $1.50 in dimes, nickels and quarters I had stashed away. (I am going to the bank today to get bus money - but, boy do I wish I did so last night...sigh). I just wasn't expecting a camera crew to catch me scrounging for spare change to ride the bus.
Jeez, I can only imagine the news story now..."poor woman doesn't have enough money to ride bus...economy hitting all time low."
Sigh, so keep you eyes on WISH TV today - and if you see a blonde girl digging for change for 3 minutes straight - that's me.

Memorial Day Weekend
I may have overdone it a little yesterday. Matthew worked his 6PM-4AM shift Sunday and had his 2PM-12AM shift Monday - so he had to sleep all day - but it was my day off and I had a 15 ft crab apple tree, bee balm, lemon balm, lavender, and rosemary to plant and 3 other little pines to move and replant. AND I attempted to weed-eat - I am not very good at it but the grass around my garden bed was getting 3 feet tall.
BUT, I probably shouldn't have tried to do it all before 1PM. Sigh. So, here I am stiff and sore on the couch at 5:07 - trying to convince myself to get up and do the rest of the stuff I wanted to get done today - make pretzel salad, do another load of laundry so my hubby can have a clean wrap for his hand tomorrow, go to Lowes and get the mulch we paid for but forgot to put in the car. I have been trying to convince myself to finish it up since about 3:00PM when I took a shower after weed eating so far all I have managed to do in the last two hours is take a nap and park myself in front of the tv with the laptop on my lap. :)
Got...to...get...up.
-------------------------------------------
Well, three hours later...I did manage to get up but I didn't finish my whole list. I can't do it all - I shouldn't try to do it all. Sigh.
I DID manage to do another load of laundry, water the trees I planted and replanted, and sew buttons on to hubby's work shirts and repair a hole in my work pants.
I ALSO managed to burn dinner - I was cooking one of those easy-peasy 10 minute lipton noodle things and decided to water the trees outside while it was cooking - ha! Yup, I burned it - so I had ravioli and garlic bread instead.
Having my husband work all the time makes me feel like I am single or something - eating the way I used to when I lived by myself in my studio apartment. Living off ravioli, spaghettios, pop tarts, cereal and fruit.
It is just hard to cook a real dinner for just me - if I do I have more leftovers then I know what to do with - and Matt isn't good about eating leftovers so there's no point.

My Memorial Day in Photos
Here are the three trees I moved from various locations in the backyard to this little nook on the west side of the house - it really looks darling - I just need to add some shade loving/moisture tolerant flowers now!
And here is our new flowering crab apple tree. It was 50% off at Lowes - it had blown over in the recent storms and was coming out if its pot - there were two others that I almost bought but we could barely managed to fit this one in our PT Cruiser the way it was. :)
And here is my new little herb garden. It isn't where I imagined it would be - but I think it will be better on this side of the house where it can catch the morning sunlight and where it is a little less soggy. It just needs some mulch and a little border of bricks!
And finally - my feeble attempt at weed eating that resulted in a few plant massacres like the one above. :(

Oh My Goodness!
So I think my husband is trying to do me in.
I woke up this morning and glanced over to his side of the bed and saw THIS peeking out from the covers.
I sat straight up in bed - wide awake after seeing that and grabbed his wrist and asked him why he was wearing it.
Well, I guess it is because of this....
He worked the 7pm-5:30am shift last night and being Memorial Day weekend it was busy and they got slammed at the restaurant and there wasn't enough people scheduled to help him out (being with only one good arm and all) so he started doing too much and hit his good hand on some metal equipment and cut himself open.
I am stressing out now - I have completely reorganized the house - thrown out expired medicine in the medicine cabinet, vacuumed the cushions on our kitchen chairs, did another two loads of laundry and a load of dishes, cleaned out the fridge, organized and filed our important paperwork - I clean when I am stressed and today I went all out.
And he is going back to work tonight 6pm to 4am...arg!- let's pray that it isn't too busy tonight and that he has enough workers and that he stops trying to do so much. :(
My husband isn't a clumsy man. He has never had stitches or broke a bone in his life. And now in the last two weeks he has had 21 stitches and hand surgery.
I think it is God's way of telling him to slow down and to start delegating more. He really loves his new job - he is finally doing what he loves - managing - but he is doing too much and trying to be everything to everyone because he is a great guy and will give it 210% - but people take advantage of that. And they are taking advantage of him - and he can only stretch himself so thin before something breaks - like it has :(.
So worried right now.

Morning Mosey
One of the best feelings in the world for me is to walk across our yard barefoot.
Yup, the feeling of cushy, cool grass damp from morning dew is quite exhilarating. And now that our grass is filled in quite nicely in the front - I can take my morning stroll around the flower beds without my feet getting muddy. No more patches thanks to all the hard work my hubby put into repairing the front grass.
Now, if only I could saw the same about the back - LOL- one day, one day. :)

Pin Pictures!
So, I know you all have been dying to see pictures of my husband's pins in his hand! Right!? Right?! :) Well, today we had the awesome experience of actually seeing them when they removed his bandages at his follow-up appointment today - and, of course, I was ready with camera at hand to snap some pictures for your viewing enjoyment. Sadly, I did not catch the look on his face when they removed the last bit of gauze and revealed this...
Yeah, his eyes were as big as saucers and his mouth dropped. He pretty much looks like Frankenstein complete with crazy stitches from two different incisions and pins holding his thumb in place and sticking out of the skin.
Pictured above is the cut he made on accident.
In this picture, above, you can actually see part of the metal pin - goodness.
After they cleaned up his arm, Matthew was fitted with a brand spanking new plastic splint - much better than his old one - this one is custom fitted, made of lighter material, etc.
AND we finally found out today that work will cover expenses since it did indeed occur at work doing something the manager asked him to do - with the resources available to him, sigh.
Next week he goes back to get the stitches removed and a week or two after that he gets the pins taken out. And in the months following that he will need to undergo a few months of physical therapy.

Why Is My Columbine Wilting? Help!
Garden Update
Haven't posted a garden update with all the craziness that has been happening. So I know one is in due order! Brace yourself - there are lots of photos! :)
My rhubarb coming up and getting more leaves! Very exciting! Though I won't be able to actually harvest any until next year. It will be worth the wait though! Rhubarb is one of the nostalgic additions to our backyard - we had some in my childhood yard and I remember picking it and eating it dipped in sugar.
A blurry pic of baby cucumber plants getting their big leaves! Equally as exciting - I love marinating cucumber slices in Italian dressing! Yum!
My wild phlox in bloom!
Baby cherry tomato plant!
My sugar snap peas are growing up the guides - and fast!
And here is the first mini harvest of lettuce - it was delicious!

Super Bowl coming to Indy in 2012
Wow, so I heard it first from Smaller Indiana's website! Someone there must be in the know!
The NFL owners have spoken and the work of the Indianapolis community over the past 25 years has paid off. The 2012 Super Bowl will be played at Lucas Oil Stadium.
Economic Impact Expected to be in Millions
Moments ago, National Football League owners, meeting in Atlanta, voted to award the 2012 Super Bowl to Indianapolis over competing offers from Houston and the Phoenix suburb of Glendale, Ariz. The decision is expected to mean an economic bonanza for the Indianapolis region as well as global media attention. A study released in April from Ball State University's Bureau of Business Research suggests that the Indianapolis region stands to receive a $365 million economic boost from the event.
For more information, see Indy's Super Bowl Website.
All the hard work and community involvement paid off...

Dreamy Sunday In the Park
Despite the turmoil Matthew and I did manage to make a lot of our weekend. Sunday evening we went to the Greenwood Amphitheater to picnic out on the grass with our Scrabble game, wine, cheese & crackers and fruit - and listen to the Greenwood Community Band while the sun sank behind the trees. It was very romantic.
It was our first time going to one of their concerts so we weren't sure what to expect. But it was quite lovely. The band played interesting music, families young and old were camped out in the grass with blankets and chairs and thermoses and snacks - people were strolling to Mrs. Curl's for ice cream - little bugs were dancing in the air and sparkling in the sun like fairy dust. It was like a dream!
Next time we will have to bring the dogs along - several families had their furry family members with them so now we know they are welcome - you never know so we decided not to risk it the first time.
Matthew being such a trooper - injury and all.

Matt's Injury Recap
Ok, so I thought I should sum everything up for those reading the blog. :)
Matthew hurt his hand at 9PM Thursday - went into hand surgery at 3PM Friday.
Here he is all prepped and ready for surgery. He said what hurt worst was the IV when they started putting him under.
Two hours later his arm looked like this - though he wasn't as chipper or awake as he is in this photo - I think he took this picture Saturday.
Anyways - he is now sporting 4 metal pins in his thumb - two of which are sticking out of the skin - nice. We can't see them because off all the bandages - but if we get a pic we will put it up. :) He will have the pins in for 4 weeks and then undergo a few months of physical therapy. He actually cut through two tendons.
Amazingly enough, the doctor said he could go back to work on Monday! (but he if he doesn't feel well enough he said he would extend it for him) He just can't use his left hand for anything - in fact he wears it in a sling and has orders from the doctor to have it elevated above his heart 24 hours a day.
Saturday he was feeling pretty good - but today it started to hurt him more and he feels queasy - probably from his pain meds. So we have been taking it pretty easy. Though I know it is driving him crazy - we bought some plants for the yard yesterday (Lowes had a sale) but walking around the backyard to look at where we would put them made him all depressed. The grass hasn't been cut in weeks. It kept raining on his days off - and now this. He keeps insisting he can do it one handed - but I would rather not risk losing another one of his limbs thank you very much.
Look at what we found on our doorstep when we got home from the hospital Friday night! Cookies with love all the way from Michigan! Thank you Ben, Megan, Allison and Quentin - you guys are the best! We really needed a smile and that did the job - thank you!

Thursday Night Freak Out
So, why do I have these tools posted on my blog? A pair of tiny scissors and some tweezers? Well, they aren't a helpful gardening or knitting tip - or even a lesson in crafting - oh no, they were the tools that a doctor used to stitch my husband up after he lacerated his tendon in his thumb last night at work. The doctor gave him the tools - said they are good for fishing. LOL.
AND today...after not eating since midnight and keeping his splinted hand elevated - my husband will need to visit a hand specialist and go into surgery to fix his severed tendon. Sigh.
I about had a heart attack last night when I got the call at 9 PM - the time my husband should have been getting off of work to come home - and the person who was on the other line was not the voice of my love - but the freaked out voice of a coworker who was driving him to the ER - my heart sank - he didn't tell me why at first so I was envisioning all sorts of terrors - finally all I knew was that he cut his hand pretty bad.
So I turned my car around - was on the way to the grocery store- and made it to the hospital before he made it back to see the doctor.
Oh it was a gross sight - blood down his arm, on his shoes, everywhere - and then the cut itself - an inch long and a 1/4 inch wide and deep. I guess you could see the severed tendon right there - but it was freaking me out so I didn't look too close or I would cry.
There is talk of workman's comp and physical therapy - but we won't know more until today when we see the hand specialist - wish us luck.

May 2008 Garden Blogger's Bloom Day
My Columbine decided to bloom this year - though it looks like it is wilting :(
One of my lilac bushes went crazy
My lily of the valley showed off some fragrant blooms (its first year blooming)
Not pictured: My allium is only half blooming so I will save that post for when it fully blooms and my wine & rose bushes are blooming a little.
AND I saw this in my yard! The most adorable yellow bird - and his mate though he/she isn't in this pic. And they didn't stay long - but they have convinced me to once again set out birdfood in my feeders - for the longest time I have been discouraged because all seem to attract are hoards of grackles.
I Won Something! Woohoo!
So finally my time of posting on tons and tons of blog contests have paid off. I won something! :) Not sure what yet as there were 3 winners and 3 different prizes - but I hope I get the fabric or the book - not so much yarn because it is sock yarn and I have yet to add knitting socks to my repertoire - just baby hats and scarves for far. :)
Thanks Cami at Camillaknits for hosting a great contest!
This will be the perfect excuse for me to visit Clemetine's again - it has been awhile.
Here are pics of the prizes! Isn't that fabric gorgeous? It would go PERFECT with my new craft project I want to do!

Photos My Husband Jumps Into
While I was going through our photos for my husband's post - I started to notice a trend. Photos my husband jumps into when I go to snap the shot.
Here he is gleefully jumping into a picture I was trying to take at the Indianapolis Museum of Art.
And here he is jumping in front a photo of he niece Daytona at Easter last year.
And here he is jumping in front of the sign I was trying to take a picture of at the Adult Easter Egg hunt we went to this Easter.
I love his facial expressions in each one...lol!
