Garden Bloggers Bloom Day August 2008

Seems like my blooms are starting to slow down this time of year.

All except for my hibiscus bushes though - they are gorgeous! Though I am having problem keeping the japanese beetles from feasting on them.

My lilac bush is blooming again - kinda crazy but I am enjoying it!

And my turf lily is doing well...

As is my lavender!

Day lilies (not pictured) are making a little comeback with a few blooms and my blanket flower is still growing strong.

July 2008 Garden Bloggers Bloom Day!

Ok, seriously...where did July go? It is already half over!!

Here's what is flowering this month in my garden.

Bee balm - one of my newest editions compliments of Ann at PrairieVisionDesign

The teensy and delicate flower of our spider plant.

Wow! My very stunning balloon flower which did really well this year!

Lilies from my great grandmother.

More gorgeous lilies.

Hyssop.

And my rouge chamomile flower - it reseeded itself from last year and came up in the oddest place. I am going to transplant him somewhere soon.

My hostas are flowering like crazy as well - but I guess I didn't snap a photo of them - I will have to once I get home tonight!

Thanks to Carol at May Dreams Gardens for starting the whole idea for Garden Bloggers Bloom Day - I love it and cannot wait till the 15th each month!

June 2008 Garden Bloggers Bloom Day!

Sorry for the recent lack of posts...just a lot going on...both at work, in life and just a lot that I am thinking about in general.

So excited about this month's Garden Bloggers Blooms Day! Mainly because I was actually able to get out in the newly mowed backyard and check out what we have going on - and it's a lot!

This is a flower I need to plant. Poor guy has been hanging out on our front sidewalk for a good two weeks now!

Wow! Look at our garden - this photo was taken this morning so it is fully up to date - and wow - it went crazy!

Looks like we will be having plenty of cucumbers in our future! And peas, canteloupe, onion, cherry tomatoes and bell peppers!

I love hostas! They are so easy to take care of. They have gorgeous leaves and gorgeous blooms!

And day lilies are another favorite of mine! Reminds me of sunny days at the pool.

May 2008 Garden Blogger's Bloom Day

My Columbine decided to bloom this year - though it looks like it is wilting :(

One of my lilac bushes went crazy

My lily of the valley showed off some fragrant blooms (its first year blooming)

Not pictured: My allium is only half blooming so I will save that post for when it fully blooms and my wine & rose bushes are blooming a little.

AND I saw this in my yard! The most adorable yellow bird - and his mate though he/she isn't in this pic. And they didn't stay long - but they have convinced me to once again set out birdfood in my feeders - for the longest time I have been discouraged because all seem to attract are hoards of grackles.

Look What I Found Today!

After the rough week or two I have had, with two back-to-back conferences at work, my husband working night shifts, our mucky-ucky muddy backyard, the bad news about our taxes, Easter coming up (one of my favorite holidays - but my first without my family intact - so a little morose like all the other holidays in the past year) - I needed a pick me up.

I read on May Dreams blog earlier this week about her Garden Bloggers Bloom Day she has on the 15th of every month and so I went excitedly outside to see of any of the bulbs I planted in the fall were coming up - but no such luck and oh, how it bummed me out.

But today, I checked again and look what I found! Not blooms, but at least signs that there WILL be blooms! I am pretty sure one was a crocus and the one of the others a tulip - I know I planted daffodils and something else - but am not sure how to distinguish them until they bloom.
